Kelso to the Coast -100 mile Ride
James Millar

James Millar organised an epic 100 mile ride on 7th May between two countries! Starting at Kelso in the Tweed Valley in Southern Scotland they headed out towards the Northumberland coast, visiting Alnwick and Bamburgh before returning via Lowick and Berwickshire
Some 15 riders took part, including a good contingent from the Kelso Wheelers.

James writes:
Just back in from our
run- great day was had. The sun stayed away but we managed to have 15 riders
out (the forecast of rain keeping some away).
In the saddle for 6 and 1/4 hours- you really do travel faster and easier
in a group and we managed to survive the usual events of a big ride.
One minor slide on the wet
road first thing ( thankfully no significant injury), 3 different punctures and
a close encounter with a dog.
The image of our most senior rider with a Jack Russell attached to his
right foot whist trying to cycle along before being deposited in the verge is
one that will stay with me for a long time. Needless to say much comment was
made by all for the rest of the day's trip.

Fruit scones were the order of the day at the stop in Bamburgh!
