Preparing for Etape Success

The focus of this will be on how to optimize
your training program to ensure success in the Etape.
About the Speaker
Dr Auriel Forrester is one of the UK's top cycling coaches
Her cycling successes include: Four times world
masters record holder over the 2km pursuit and current world veteran women's
hour record holder. She has also represented GB in stages races in the UK and Europe, and has attained a
whole batch of cycling medals at all distances for 10mile to 100miles.
Auriel was Head of Sports Science at Luton University and has a PhD in Sport Science
and has carried extensive research in training techniques to optimize
effectiveness of training especially in the area of how to get the greatest
improvement in performance for the minimum investment in time! She is now with www.scientific-coaching.com
In the 2007 Etape de Tour all
the 12 or riders that Auriel was coaching who started the event finished within
the time limit - the quickest being a shade over 8 hours!

- A structured training program
from December to July.
- How to balance training with
work/family commitments.
- Use of Heart rate and / or Power measurements
- Peaking and Tapering for the event.
- Fuelling for success
The talk will be illustrated with real-life
examples and is expected to last for two hours in total. Time will also be set
aside for individual questions.
Although Auriel will charge £30 per head,
those booking for the Etape through www.etape.org.uk
will receive a £10 discount. Minimum number: 8 people. Free
refreshments will be provided.
The talk will take place in a riverside location between Windsor and Maidenhead.
